Sheela Tomy is a prominent Malayalam novelist and short story writer from Mananthavady, Wayanad. Holding an M.A. in Mass Communication and Journalism, she has lived for many years as an expatriate in Qatar. She has achieved national acclaim with her novels translated into English. Her works often explore environment, social justice, gender relations, expatriate life, human conditions, exile and political oppressions across borders. Major works include Valli, Aa Nadiyodu Per Chodikaruthu, Kilinochiyile Shalabhakal and Melquiadissinte Pralayapusthakam. She has received numerous recognitions such as the Cherukad Award, JCB Literary Award shortlist, ALTA National Translation Award shortlist, Wise Owl Fiction Runner Up, Muse India Jury Award, Muthukulam Parvathi Amma Award, Abu Dhabi Arang Award, and Vanitha Kalasahithi Rajalakshmi Award.
