പ്രമുഖ ചെറുകഥാകൃത്തും, നോവലിസ്റ്റും, മാധ്യമപ്രവർത്തകനുമാണ് യു.കെ കുമാരൻ. 1950 മെയ് 11ന് കോഴിക്കോട് ജനനം. ‘വീക്ഷണം’ മാസികയിലൂടെ മാധ്യമപ്രവർത്തനം ആരംഭിച്ച അദ്ദേഹം, കേരള പത്രപ്രവർത്തക യൂണിയൻ സംസ്ഥാന വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റ്, കേരള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി വൈസ് ചെയർമാൻ, ഒ വി വിജയൻ സ്മാരക സമിതി ചെയർമാൻ, എന്നീ നിലകളിൽ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ‘തക്ഷൻകുന്ന് സ്വരൂപം’, ‘ഒരാളെ തേടി ഒരാൾ’, ‘എല്ലാം കാണുന്ന ഞാൻ’, ‘കാണുന്നതല്ല കാഴ്ചകൾ’ എന്നിവയാണ് കുമാരന്റെ പ്രധാന കൃതികൾ. വയലാർ അവാർഡ്, എസ്. കെ. പൊറ്റെക്കാട് അവാർഡ്, കേരള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി അവാർഡ് തുടങ്ങിയ നിരവധി സാഹിത്യ ബഹുമതികളും അദ്ദേഹം സ്വന്തമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
U.K. Kumaran is a noted Malayalam short story writer, novelist, and journalist. Born on 11 May 1950 in Kozhikode, he began his journalism career with the magazine Vikshanam. He has served as the State Vice President of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists, Vice Chairman of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi, and Chairman of the O.V. Vijayan Memorial Committee. His major works include Thakshankunnu Swaroopam, Oraaley Thedi Oral, Ellaam Kaanunna Njaan, and Kaanunnathalla Kaazhchakal. Kumaran has received several literary honours, including the Vayalar Award, the S.K. Pottekkatt Award, and the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award.
